Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Thinly slice the potatoes and layer them in a greased baking dish.
  3. In a saucepan, combine cream, garlic, salt, pepper, and nutmeg; bring to a simmer.
  4. Pour the cream mixture over the potatoes and top with cheddar cheese.
  5. Dot with butter and cover with foil.
  6. Bake for 45 minutes, then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until golden.
